It's 2:17 AM on a Tuesday in late October, and the Starlite Diner on Route 9 is empty except for me and the night cook. The payphone by the restrooms starts ringing. I answer it because I'm stupid, because I'm bored, because some part of me hoped it was a wrong number. It's my mother's voice on the other end — except my mother has been dead for eleven years. She tells me she's sorry. She tells me she's waiting at the house on Ash Street. She tells me to come get her before the man in the blue sedan finds her. Then she gives me the address — a house that burned down in 1987. I hang up. The phone rings again. It rings every time I hang up, and the voice gets younger, and younger, and younger, until it's a little girl begging me to pick her up from a house that isn't there anymore. I walk out to my car and drive to the address anyway. What I find there isn't a house. What I find there is a payphone — the same model as the one at the diner — standing alone in a field of ash, ringing. #StarliteDiner #Route9 #Payphone #DeadMother #Grief #LostCalls #AshStreet #BurnedHouse #BlueSedan #LateNight #October #Haunting #FexingoHorror #HorrorPodcast #TheLastVoicemail #SoloNarrated #Luna #Anthology Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
