  • South Melbourne make history | Sinisa's unlikely backstory | Reflections on Year 1 of the Australian Championship
    2025/12/09

South Melbourne are the champions, lifting their first national title in 26 years thanks to a spectacular start at Olympic Village. How have Hellas pulled off this midseason resurrection? And where did it all go wrong for Marconi? Josh, Ivka, Teo and Molchy are on deck for our final NPL Victoria x From The Gantry megapod of the season.

Plus, Teo takes us back to when he first encountered a frustrated NPLW coach by the name of Sinisa Cohadzic, and we ask the biggest question: did season one of the Australian Championship bring us closer to the dream of a standalone national second division?

  • South Melbourne & Marconi set up dream decider | The great Grand Final venue debate
    2025/12/01

It's an ensemble cast this week as Nick D'Urbano times his run perfectly to the back post to join the NPL Vic x From The Gantry Megapod for the first time, alongside Josh Parish, Alex Molchanoff, Nick Kutnjak, Mark Ivkovic and Lachie Flannigan.

South Melbourne are through to the inaugural Australian Championship Grand Final, after Manny Aguek did his best John Anastasiadis impression to ghost in straight off the bench. We review a thrilling Greek Derby from all angles.

The choice of Olympic Village as the Grand Final venue has provoked heated debate this week. With Lakeside unavailable, did FA make the right call?

And Marconi proved the "doubters" wrong again to end Moreton City Excelsior's dream run (even though every member of the pod tipped them to do just that). Could Peter Tsekenis' siege mentality and big-game nous be the difference on Saturday?

  • Hilton's heroics win epic shootout | Injury-hit Avondale crumble | South & Heidelberg set up blockbuster semi final
    2025/11/24

It's a Victorian takeover on the megapod this week as Josh, Lachie, Teo & Ivka review four enthralling quarter finals in the Australian Championship!

This weekend saw the debut of the FVS (Football Video Support) system - has the addition of a coach's challenge fixed VAR?

James Hilton lived out every goalkeeper's wildest dream on Friday night, saving three penalties and converting the winner himself in the shootout. We dive into the details of a wickedly fun Derby D'Italia as Marconi upset APIA.

Meanwhile, Moreton City dazzle against 10-man Avondale - but did Jonatan Germano get his team selection all wrong?

And Heidelberg were behind for all of four minutes before smashing Metrostars for six, while Max Mikkola used the sixth ball of the over to befuddle Chris Marques from the long throw, setting up a massive Greek derby semi final at Lakeside.

  • Wollongong's INSANE comeback pushes Marconi to the brink | Preston OUT as Spirit survive | No biscotti as APIA eliminate Bayswater
    2025/11/18

It's a full house this week as Josh & Ivka are joined by From The Gantry's Alex Molchanoff, Will Konstandinidis and Nick Kutnjak (plus a late cameo from Teo Pellizzeri) for another Aus Championship megapod!

There's only one place to start - what on earth happened to Marconi at Collegians on Saturday? Needing only to avoid a 6-goal defeat to progress, Wollongong took a 5-0 lead with 5 minutes to play, and the Stallions were one Banri Kanaizumi diving header away from elimination in stoppage time.

Why has it taken so long for the Wolves to find their form? And can Marconi recover from this thrashing in time for the Quarter Finals?

Elsewhere, a threadbare Preston left themselves with too much to do on the final day, as Louie Acevski's 9-year reign ends with a draw away to Avondale, while Spirit eke out a 1-0 win in Canberra to take their place.

Plus, there's the usual goalfests in Group A, and the Bayswater bubble bursts at Leichhardt Oval, with a red card and a heavy defeat to APIA that sees Metrostars progress.

Finally, we look ahead to the knockout rounds as the Championship serves up four tasty quarter finals!

  • 6-goal CHAOS as Olympic crumble | Too little, too late for Wolves | Sotira gives Metrostars a glimmer
    2025/11/10

Get your abacus out! The next stop is permutations station as Josh, Molchy and Will are on board to look ahead to the final matchday of the Australian Championship group stage - and 9/12 teams are still a mathematical chance of progressing.

We start at Kogarah as Sydney Olympic let a 3-1 lead slip through their fingers at home to Moreton City Excelsior - before a WWE match breaks out after the final whistle.

Meanwhile, Wollongong save their best performance of the tournament for Heidelberg at Olympic Village, but fall just short of the result they need in a thrilling 2-2 draw. Why didn't we see the best of the Wolves until now?

In Group C, Preston suffer through their second 0-0 draw of the competition, before Avondale does them a favour by beating Spirit at Avenger Park - leaving all four sides a realistic chance of going through on the final day.

And in Group D, has the Bayswater bubble burst? Metrostars reignite their campaign via a Christian Sotira worldie, meaning Baysie have to go to Leichhardt Oval and get something.

  • Bayswater's home streak continues | South steal a Greek Derby win | Are synthetic surfaces safe?
    2025/11/05

It's a NSW takeover on the pod this week as Molchy, Will & Nikola review Round 4 of the Australian Championship!

Sydney United are reduced to 10 men early and almost stage a fightback out west, Dredon Kelly spares APIA's blushes, and Olympic and Spirit are made to pay for their missed chances as South and Preston snatch victories on the road.

Plus, a horror injury to Luc Jeggo prompts a discussion on the use and upkeep of synthetic pitches in NSW.

  • Bayswater City's war on football | TJ's moment of madness | Sydney Utd in crisis
    2025/10/28

Another huge lineup on the megapod this week as Josh Parish is joined by Teo Pellizzeri, Alex Molchanoff, Mark Ivkovic and Nikola Pozder as the Australian Championship group stage hits the halfway mark.

Bayswater City have gone from a curiosity to a contender as Wests APIA's flying form hit the skids out west. Could the Baysie boys 'Greece 2004' their way to an unlikely title?

At the Palace, Wollongong could have been reduced to nine men in a disastrous first half that saw Thomas James get away with boxing below the belt. But were there green shoots after the interval for Luke Wilkshire's side? And can Marconi challenge Heidelberg for top spot?

And down the road at King Tom, Sydney United hit the front early at home to Metrostars, but pressure and possession eventually told as the South Australian premiers scored their first goals and picked up their first win. Where to now for Ante Juric's undermanned outfit?

Plus, there's another dramatic comeback at Christie Park, six of the best for the Bergers, and the best goal celebration so far as Sydney Olympic turn their campaign around.

  • Aguek turns from Balotelli to Beckham | Olympic & Preston STUNNED | Six-goal THRILLER at Christie Park
    2025/10/21

Josh is outnumbered as the lone Victorian on the pod this week! He's joined by Australian Championship commentators Alex Molchanoff, Nick Kutnjak and Will Konstandinidis of From The Gantry fame to break down Round 2 of the competition.

Sydney Olympic and Preston Lions were on the wrong end of the same scoreline this week, as underdogs Broadmeadow Magic and Canberra Croatia produced thrilling 3-2 upsets. Are two of the competition's biggest names facing the prospect of first-round elimination?

Meanwhile, Lakeside was rocking again as halftime substitute Many Aguek produced an impact for the ages with a match-winning double against Moreton City Excelsior. Was Nahuel Bonada unlucky to be sent off? And surely another halfway line special won't be robbed of goal of the week?

Plus, there's a crisis at Sydney United, decisive wins for APIA, Marconi and Heidelberg, and a bruising encounter out west as Bayswater City defeat Metrostars.
