このコンテンツについて
This episode of The Music Mind Podcast features Nicolas Bernier, an 18 year old arranger, trumpeter and pianist based in Montreal, Canada.
Nicolas may well be one of the most talented 18 year old musicians in the business. Having only played trumpet seriously for four years you will see and hear him play astoundingly mature lead trumpet parts throughout the podcast, including playing the late, great trumpet legend Maynard Ferguson's lead chart for the Star Trek Theme.
Having played piano since he was seven years old, you will also get to see and hear Nicolas play some challenging classical piano pieces.
A self taught arranger, the multi trumpet parts you will enjoy in this podcast have all been arranged by Nicolas.
This conversation covers a wide range of topics including the importance of focusing on what it is that you want to do in life, the physical challenges of playing the trumpet, how learning the piano and developing classical technique has helped him to play jazz, being versatile and understanding the recording and video home studio environments.
For the music collaboration on this episode, Nicolas chose a great jazz standard written in 1931 titled 'Beautiful Love'. The collaboration features Nicolas on trumpet with Brian Hayes on tenor saxophone.
