概要

In 1896, just months after the French captured Antananarivo, a firestorm of resistance erupted across Imerina. The Menalamba—'red shawls' in Malagasy—rose against colonial rule and Christian converts, burning churches and attacking foreigners. This episode follows the rebellion's key figures: the prophetess Ranavalona III's niece, Princess Rasoherina; the Merina generals Rabezavana and Rainandriamampandry; and the French governor-general Gallieni's brutal response. We trace the revolt from its heartland in Imerina to its suppression, including the public execution of two Merina princes, the exile of Queen Ranavalona III, and the final destruction of the sampy talismans. This is a story of faith, betrayal, and the tragic end of Merina sovereignty.
