  • Don’t Fear Failure: An Interview with Chet Edwards
    2025/09/17

After a short hiatus, we are back!

Welcome to ‘Episode 17’ of The Baylor Line’s flagship podcast, The Green Room.

Host Jonathon Platt meets with former Congressman Chet Edwards, Baylor’s W.R. Pogue Distinguished Chair of Public Service, and recipient of The Baylor Line’s Babs Baugh Servant Leadership Award. Chet and Jon reflect on 9/11. the weight of that fateful day when America was attacked, what it means to live through moments of national trauma, and how we come together as one.

Before his 20 years in Congress, Edwards worked for Congressman Olin “Tiger” Teague. That mentorship sparked a lifelong dedication to veterans and military families.

Edwards and Platt go down the line of his career as a congressman – wins and loses. Edwards’ main message is to not fear failure, and learning from it will help you in your personal and professional life. Edwards became known for bipartisan leadership, integrity, and his defense of church and state separation – while representing a Republican state as a Democrat.

“ We're a country that's imperfect, but that what makes us great and good is that in each generation we strive to reach the highest ideals of our Declaration of Independence and our Constitution. “ – Chet Edwards

Tune in to hear stories of a perfectly imperfect country.
