概要

 January 1987. A disabled fishing trawler drifts into the channel off Parson's Point, Maine, on the coldest night of the year. The Coast Guard cutter answers the distress call, but when they reach the vessel, they find no crew—just a galley radio still playing a voice that none of them transmitted. Luna tells the story of Petty Officer Second Class Ray Colletti, who was aboard the cutter that night, and who has not slept through a full night since. He told her this account last fall, sitting in the back booth of a diner in Rockland, nursing a cup of coffee he never once drank from. This is what he remembers: the fog, the cold, the smell of diesel and salt, and the sound of something that should never have been able to speak through a ship-to-shore radio. A quiet, slow-burn story about the things that listen in the dark water.
