- The handwritten label on the unopened bottle read "CRAWFORD" in blue marker, written by a man who had been dead for two and a half years.
- Coach Douglas Osborne, age 39, had kept a soft-sided cooler on deck with individualized recovery drinks labeled with athletes' names for eleven years.
- Swimmer Owen Beckett, age 22, was admitted to Keller City Regional Hospital seven days after Crawford's burial with vomiting, descending leg weakness, heart rate of 41 bpm, and elevated urinary thallium.
