    On this episode of Talking Guitars, I kick things off by showing you my Kramer Focus 1000 that I just put fresh strings on yesterday—make sure you check out that episode if you missed it! 🎶 Then we dive into an epic story: Ozzy Osbourne once revealed that Nuno Bettencourt was the only guitarist to ever tell him “no” when it came to joining his band—a rejection Ozzy never forgot. Ozzy’s ear for guitar greatness had already been proven when he pulled Randy Rhoads out of Quiet Riot. Nuno shared how, at just 14, after Randy’s passing, he actually mailed in a cassette to audition for Ozzy—but never got a response. Years later, Nuno’s band Extreme landed a track, Play With Me, on the Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure soundtrack, and that’s when Ozzy really took notice. 🤘 Ron hits the workbench and shows off some pickups he’s planning to drop into one of his guitars. Meanwhile, I share some exciting plans—tomorrow morning I’ll be at Music Therapy Laz’s studio filming a demo of the MXR Randy Rhoads pedals: the Polka Dot, the brand-new version, and of course the Yellow Distortion+!     On this jam-packed episode of Talking Guitars and Music News, we kicked things off with the world premiere of my brand-new demo/review for the Lock-It Guitar Strap—fresh from a local music shop right here in Santa Cruz. I put it through its paces, even testing it out on a killer Hondo Revival Explorer I spotted at the shop. That guitar had some serious vibes… and yes, I might be going back for it! Always some rock ‘n’ roll fireworks happening! From there, we dove headfirst into the world of pedals—starting with the new MXR RR104 Randy Rhoads Special Edition Concorde Distortion+ Pedal. Some folks are already calling it “limited edition,” but is it really? We broke it down, compared it to the previous polka-dot release, and talked about why some sellers hype these up way too much. I’m especially stoked because I’ll soon have the chance to A/B the new Concorde edition against my polka-dot and classic yellow versions. Think vinyl crackle, warbly modulation, dark reverbs, bit-crushing, and way more—basically a lo-fi playground in a box. I need one of these in my life, no question. And just when things couldn’t get weirder, the chat wanted to talk Sustainiacs.
