In 2023, during a routine mammogram, Cara was diagnosed with Stage 1 HER+ breast cancer. She fought back with a double mastectomy, chemotherapy, and reconstructive surgery — and went into remission in 2024. Her latest book, "There’s No Good Book for This but I Wrote One Anyway: The Irreverent Guide to Crushing Breast Cancer" (Oct. 1, 2025), is the no-nonsense, laugh-out-loud guide she wishes she’d had during her own journey.
