  • What Does Spiritual Health Actually Look Like? | Kate Caldwell
    2026/09/01

When we talk about health, we often focus on the physical and mental pieces. But what about our spiritual health?

And what does spirituality actually mean if you don't consider yourself religious?

In this episode of The Human Health Collective Podcast, I sit down with Kate Caldwell for a conversation about spirituality, embodiment, identity, meaning, purpose, belonging, and the many ways our spiritual health overlaps with how we experience ourselves and care for our bodies.

Kate takes a body-based approach to spiritual care, using practices including facilitated dialogue, breathwork, trauma-sensitive yoga, and self-aware movement to help make spirituality feel more practical and accessible. We talk about how awareness of the body can help us recognize choices, reconnect with a sense of agency, and better understand what we may need.

We also explore the difference between spirituality and organized religion and broaden the conversation beyond traditional definitions. Kate describes spirituality through the lenses of identity, meaning and purpose, connection and belonging, and the values that shape how we move through the world.

In this episode, we talk about:

    • What "spiritual health" can actually mean
    • Spirituality versus organized religion
    • Why you don't have to be religious to explore your spiritual health
    • Identity, values, meaning, and purpose
    • Connection, belonging, and our relationship with ourselves
    • The relationship between spirituality and the physical body
    • Embodiment, interoception, and developing greater self-awareness
    • Breathwork, movement, yoga, and other awareness practices
    • Agency and creating more choices when we feel stuck
    • How religious and spiritual traditions can influence the way we view and care for our bodies
    • Worthiness, self-care, sacrifice, and shame
    • What it can look like to care for ourselves as whole human beings

This conversation is a reminder that whole-person health may include pieces we don't always know how to name. Spiritual health doesn't have to look one particular way, and exploring it may begin with simply asking: What gives my life meaning? What do I value? Where do I feel connected? And how am I actually living those things?

  • The Mindfulness You're Missing | Neil Place
    2026/08/25

What if you're already practicing mindfulness without even realizing it?

In this episode of The Human Health Collective Podcast, I sit down with Neil Place for a conversation about mindfulness, mental health, movement, sport, and what it actually means to be present.

We unpack what mindfulness really means beyond meditation and sitting quietly with your thoughts. Neil describes it as observation without judgment, and throughout our conversation, we explore what that can actually look like in everyday life.

From sports and competition to running, movement, relationships, mental health, and the moments we often rush through without noticing, mindfulness can be a tool for understanding yourself, getting out of autopilot, navigating discomfort, and becoming more intentional about how you respond to what's happening around you.

We also talk about Neil's work at the intersection of mindfulness and sports psychology, the role sport can play in developing young people, and why performance doesn't have to come at the expense of mental health or the person behind the athlete.

    In this conversation, we discuss:

    • What mindfulness actually means and why it's more than meditation
    • How you may already be practicing mindfulness without realizing it
    • The connection between mindfulness, mental health, movement, and performance
    • Why self-awareness can help us get out of autopilot
    • Learning to observe thoughts, emotions, and discomfort without immediately judging them
    • Using mindfulness to navigate pressure and improve performance
    • The role of identity, values, and self-awareness in sport and life
    • Why resilience isn't about ignoring discomfort or simply pushing through
    • How coaches can create healthier and more compassionate environments
    • The power of sport to build connection, community, and lifelong relationships
    • Why meaningful change often requires slow, relational work rather than a quick fix

At The Human Health Collective, we believe better health starts with better conversations. Our goal is to bring together people from across healthcare, wellness, fitness, mental health, and our community to challenge the way we think about health and help all of us better understand the whole person.

  • You Don't Have to Be Injured to Get Better | Dr. Pamela Dyess
    2026/08/18

What if you didn't have to wait until something hurts to start taking care of your body?

In this episode of The Human Health Collective Podcast, I sit down with Dr. Pamela Dyess of Full Circle Rehab & Health to talk about a more proactive approach to physical therapy, movement, performance, and long-term health.

We explore why physical therapy can be about so much more than recovering from an injury, and how understanding your body, building strength, improving movement, and prioritizing recovery can help you continue doing the things you love for years to come.

We also get into the realities of balancing training with recovery, the overwhelming amount of health information we're exposed to, nutrition, performance, and why being healthy doesn't have to mean doing everything perfectly.

Whether you're training for a competition, trying to stay active as you get older, dealing with a nagging issue, or simply wanting to feel and perform better, this conversation is a reminder that you don't have to be injured to invest in your health.

    In this conversation, we discuss:

    • Why physical therapy shouldn't only start after an injury
    • The difference between rehabilitation, prevention, and performance
    • Training for the activities and life you actually want to live
    • How strength and movement can support longevity
    • Finding the balance between pushing your body and allowing it to recover
    • Why more exercise isn't always better
    • Nutrition, recovery, and the fundamentals that support performance
    • The overwhelm created by conflicting health information online
    • Why health doesn't have to be as complicated as we've made it
    • Building a sustainable approach to feeling and performing your best

At The Human Health Collective, we believe better health starts with better conversations. Our goal is to bring together professionals from across healthcare, fitness, wellness, and our community to challenge outdated thinking, bridge gaps in care, and help people better understand their health.
