  • Run the Race - Run of Lament
    2025/08/24

Podcast Series: Run the Race - Meditations for Movement

Course Instructor: The Rev. Kristen Ostendorf

    In This Episode:

This visioning exercise follows the advice Paul gives his followers in 1 Thessalonians 5: 17-18: to pray without ceasing.

Following this pre-movement meditation, a walker, hiker, or runner will write a prayer that follows a traditional format of Christian prayer - called a collect. This collect can speak to the concerns in your heart, no matter what they are. This exercise will help you create a "prayer for your pocket" that you can take on your hike, run or walk, whether it be a prayer of gratitude, joy, lament, or other concerns.

For more examples of collects, see https://www.bcponline.org/, p. 810 for a variety of prayers that can be used on various occasions.

    2025/08/10

Podcast Series: Run the Race - Meditations for Movement

Course Instructor: The Rev. Kristen Ostendorf

    In This Episode:

According to our belief in the bodily resurrection, our bodies matter. Using the approach of a body scan, you'll be guided through a prayer of gratitude for the body. Using the wisdom in Genesis 1 (that we are created in God's image) we'll do a body scan that can be done with or without a foam roller to "check in" with the body before or after a run, and then give thanks for it.

  • Episode Six: From Striving to Receiving
    2025/05/21

A Return to Essence, Receptivity, and the Sacred Invitation of Presence

Podcast Series: The Enneagram Map to Your Deeper Self: A Book Club Series

Host: Alicia Divers | Somatic Practitioner & Enneagram Teacher

    Guest Author: Sandra Smith

    In This Episode:

In our final episode, we take a step back from the individual types and return to the deeper invitation of this work: to move beyond type and toward Essence.

Alicia guides us through Sandra Smith's reflections on resistance and receptivity—how striving shows up in each of us, and how presence becomes the sacred ground for transformation.

Rather than fix our type, this episode invites us to meet the patterns with compassion, return to our bodies, and soften into something truer: the receptivity that lives beneath all our efforting.

    You'll learn:

    • Why striving—though well-intentioned—keeps us locked in type

    • How receptivity opens the doorway to spiritual experience

    • Why body-based presence is essential for transformation

    • What Sandra's PAUSE Process offers for inner work (and how to explore it further)

    • A closing benediction for each of the nine types—an offering of encouragement for the road ahead

Whether you're just beginning your Enneagram journey or seeking to deepen it, this final episode invites you to rest in the truth that your growth doesn't begin with striving—it begins with allowing.

  • Episode Five: Mind Clarity and the Search for Inner Ground
    2025/05/14

Types Five, Six, and Seven – Navigating Fear, Trust, and Inner Freedom

Podcast Series: The Enneagram Map to Your Deeper Self: A Book Club Series

Host: Alicia Divers | Somatic Practitioner & Enneagram Teacher

    Guest Author: Sandra Smith

    In This Episode:

This week, we step into the Head Center—Types Five, Six, and Seven—and explore how each of these types navigates fear through thought, planning, and imagination.

Alicia guides us through Sandra Smith's reflections on the deeper strategies Head Types use to seek safety—and how those strategies can soften when met with presence. Rather than pathologizing fear, this episode invites listeners to see it as a sacred doorway: one that, when tended gently, opens into groundedness, trust, and joy.

From the Five's quiet withdrawal to the Six's loyal vigilance to the Seven's search for stimulation—we explore how each type can return to inner steadiness, not by thinking more, but by staying with what's already here.

    You'll learn:
    • Why fear is central to the Head Center—and how it lives in the body

    • How Fives can move from withholding to engaging

    • How Sixes can return to self-trust, even in uncertainty

    • How Sevens can abide with the moment rather than chase the next thing

    • Why clarity comes not from control—but from grounded presence

Whether you lead with a Head Type or love someone who does, this episode offers a compassionate lens on anxiety, thinking patterns, and the somatic pathways back to enoughness.

    Reflection Question:

What does fear feel like in your body—and how might you practice trust, even in uncertainty?

  • Episode Four: The Heart Remembers – Exploring Types 3, 2, and 4
    2025/05/07

Podcast Series: The Enneagram Map to Your Deeper Self: A Book Club Series

Host: Alicia Divers | Somatic Practitioner & Enneagram Teacher

    Guest Author: Sandra Smith

    In This Episode:

This week, we move into Chapters 3, 4, and 9 of Sandra Smith's The Enneagram Map to Your Deeper Self—exploring the Heart Center types: Three, Two, and Four.

Alicia guides us through the tender terrain of the Heart Center—where image, identity, and emotional attunement shape our inner stories. You'll hear how each type seeks love and connection in distinct ways, and how the journey back to the heart begins with reclaiming self-worth.

With somatic insight and personal reflection, Alicia brings Sandra's "compassionate entry points" to life—offering gentle practices and embodied invitations for each type to soften performance, over-functioning, and comparison.

    You'll learn:

    • How Type Three's drive for achievement can soften into authentic presence

    • How Type Two's desire to be needed can open into the spaciousness of receiving

    • How Type Four's longing for depth can root into grounded belonging

    • How shame subtly shapes Heart Center strategies—and how the body holds its residue

    • Why equanimity, Holy Freedom, and Holy Source name the deeper spiritual journey of these types

Whether you resonate with the Heart Center—or love someone who leads with image or emotion—this episode offers a warm, invitational space to remember:

You don't have to earn your belonging. You already have it.

    Reflection Question:

Where are you still trying to prove your worth—and what might shift if you trusted that love doesn't have to be earned?
