  • Exploring Ancestral Connections with Kelsey Crawford
    2026/08/18

In this debut episode of The Hidden Thread, I sit down with artist, healer, and tarot creator Kelsey Crawford for a conversation about ancestry, intuition, and the mysterious ways those who came before us may continue to reach into our lives.

Kelsey shares the experiences that shaped her relationship with the unseen—from early encounters with loss and visitation to her exploration of ancestral healing and the idea of the “well ancestors”: those within our lineage who may offer wisdom, protection, and guidance.

At the heart of our conversation is an extraordinary story. While working with an ancestral tarot practice, Kelsey chose to reach out to her great-grandmother, Ida Mae, who had died at the same age Kelsey was at the time of the reading. What unfolded through the cards eventually led to a profound encounter involving Kelsey’s beloved grandmother, Dolly, shortly before her passing.

We talk about grief, synchronicity, creativity, and what it means to remain open to experiences we may not be able to explain—and how Kelsey’s connection with her ancestors ultimately became woven into the creation of her own tarot deck.

A conversation about the threads that run through generations, the mysteries we inherit, and the possibility that love may find ways to reach us across time.

  • The Awakening that Made Jennifer an Artist: A Conversation with Jennifer Heerey
    2026/08/31

What happens when the life you’re meant to live arrives in a way you never expected?

Artist Jennifer Heerey grew up in a world shaped by science and practicality, surrounded by a family whose paths seemed clearly defined. Becoming an artist wasn’t the obvious direction for her life—until an experience awakened something within her and set her on an entirely different course.

In this episode of The Hidden Thread, Jennifer joins Nitai Mitchell to share the story of the awakening that unexpectedly led her to begin painting. With no formal artistic background, she followed this newfound creative calling into the world of abstract art, eventually developing a career as a self-taught artist. Years later, her path would lead her into formal training in classical realism, adding a new dimension to the artistic language she had first discovered through intuition.

Jennifer reflects on family expectations, friendship, intuition, and the experiences that quietly guided her toward a life she could not have anticipated. She also shares how her art has evolved to bring together two seemingly different worlds—the visionary and the classical, the unseen and the observed.

At its heart, this is a conversation about becoming: how we recognize the threads that have been guiding us, how creativity can ask us to step beyond the life we imagined for ourselves, and what can happen when we choose to follow.

Sometimes the path doesn’t reveal itself all at once. Sometimes it begins with an awakening.
