概要

This is The Henry Hudson Hour—a podcast about life in Austin, and everything that comes with it.

I’m Henry Hudson, and like a lot of people in this city, I’m trying to make sense of a world that’s loud, fast, and sometimes overwhelming—while still finding moments that make it funny, meaningful, and human. Austin is the backdrop, but the real focus is the conversations: honest ones, curious ones, and occasionally uncomfortable ones.

On this show, we talk about the heavy stuff—identity, mental health, change, politics—but we don’t stay there. We mix it with news, pop culture, local stories, and the everyday moments that shape who we are without us even realizing it. Some episodes are thoughtful. Some are messy. Some are just fun. All of them are real.

I care about this podcast because I believe conversation still matters—especially the kind that isn’t trying to win, sell, or shout. Just connect.

Why should you care? Because chances are, you’re living through the same questions, contradictions, and small moments too.

My goal is simple: after each episode, I want you to feel a little less alone, a little more curious, and maybe laugh on your way there.

Welcome to The Henry Hudson Hour.

In this episode of The Henry Hudson Hour, I sit down with professional artist Ava Brooks—someone who influenced me long before this podcast existed as my teacher. We talk about her journey as both an artist and an educator, what inspires her work, and what it really takes to build a life around creativity. Ava also shares stories from her travels in Europe and reflects on the changes she’s seen in Austin since arriving in 1968.
