This week, Pastor Mike Skedeleski continues our series through the book of Matthew. In a world that constantly encourages us to love only those who love us back and to hold onto personal animosity, Jesus introduces a Kingdom standard that turns cultural norms upside down. What if the true test of our faith isn't how we treat our friends but how we respond to the very people who offend, hurt, or persecute us?
Keeping the cross in mind, we discover that Jesus never asks us to do anything He didn't live out first. Through His humble and gracious example at Calvary, we see what it means to choose a posture of prayer over payback, allowing God's unearned grace and love to flow to everyone around us. By diving deeper into what it means to love our enemies and pray for their blessing, we learn how our everyday actions can reflect the very character and spiritual DNA of our Father in Heaven. When we stop letting our flesh and the world dictate our reactions and instead let Christ's love lead our hearts, our lives become living evidence of His grace.
