In this episode of Growing In Grace from Grace Bible Church in Hutchinson, Kansas, Pastor Bart Horton begins teaching Mark 2:13–17 in Part 1 of “The Doctor Is In.”
As Jesus passes by the sea, He calls Levi the tax collector to follow Him—then reclines at table with tax collectors and sinners. When the scribes of the Pharisees object, Jesus answers with a clear statement of His mission: “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick… I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.”
This passage calls every listener to consider their true need before God, to see the mercy of Christ toward the outcast and the morally broken, and to recognize that Jesus alone is the Great Physician who heals the soul.
Passage: Mark 2:13–17
Series: Gospel of Mark
