Joy hasn’t been an emotion I’ve experienced much of in my life, and for a long time, I wondered why. Through my work in our book club reading Brené Brown’s Atlas of the Heart, I came across a perspective that completely shifted how I see joy: It isn’t something we live in or sustain, it’s a fleeting spark tied to connection or gratitude.

In this episode, I’ll explore:

• Why joy isn’t a constant state and how to notice it when it comes

• How happiness is a steadier, longer-lasting emotion we can cultivate

• Personal moments when I’ve experienced joy—and why they’re so powerful

• How joy is often layered with emotions like gratitude, love, and pride

This realization helped me release the pressure to “find joy” or “live in joy” and instead focus on creating a life that invites those sparks. I hope it brings you clarity and peace, too.
