“Why would God pick Gideon if He knew Gideon would later build an idol?” That question is not just about an Old Testament judge, it’s about every one of us who has ever wondered whether our failures disqualify us from being used by God. We walk through a blunt, hope-filled pattern across Scripture: God is eternal and all-knowing, yet He keeps working through imperfect people, from Abraham and Noah to Moses, Aaron, David, and beyond. The point is not to excuse sin. It’s to understand grace, humility, and why God gets the credit when anything good happens.

Then we open Acts 19 and follow Paul into Ephesus, where he meets a group of “disciples” who had been baptized but had not even heard of the Holy Spirit. We talk about why that gap made sense in the early church, what Paul’s questions reveal about genuine belief, and how John’s baptism of repentance differs from Christian baptism in the name of Jesus. Along the way we address common confusion about baptism wording, rebaptism, and why the Holy Spirit’s work in Acts sometimes looks different than what many churches see today.

The back half turns intense and practical as we discuss extraordinary miracles, spiritual warfare, and what happens when people try to use the name of Jesus without real authority. Acts 19 also gives a vivid picture of repentance that costs something, as believers publicly confess sin and burn expensive occult books. We finish by asking what real revival and gospel growth would require in our time: clear gospel preaching, wholehearted commitment to Jesus, and lives that carry the message outside the church walls. If this helped you, subscribe, share it with a friend, and leave a review. What part of Acts 19 hits you the hardest right now?
