James Carville has spent the past few days threatening to leave the Democratic Party over Hasan Piker, who I talked about in EP 2, Hasan Piker, Final Boss. James said that "one of us is going to leave" the Democratic party if Hasan Piker becomes a real force inside the party.

So what happens if James Carville actually leaves the Democratic Party? Not much, actually.

An ultimatum only works if the other side needs something from you; voters don’t need anything from James Carville, and the party doesn’t either.

Hasan Piker isn't a threat to America or Americans. But he does represent a threat to the Democratic party, and that's not a bad thing. Aside from what he's built and his accomplishments, Hasan Piker is just a regular person, and he's more like you than anyone you've ever voted for, or listened to as a so-called trusted voice in media. You don't have to agree with anything he says or his politics for that to be true.

Traditional democratic politicians are in denial about just how fed up people are. They think it’s a fad. They routinely, literally insult our understanding of the issues or the alternatives we’re electing to office. They refuse to get with the program, and that just underscores the need to vote them out. Nobody should be bigger than the program, and getting elected by voters who feel confident you’ll fight for what they care about, that’s the whole ball game.
