Most of us have someone who feels like the rock in our life. They listen, steady us, and bring us back to reality when everything feels overwhelming. For me, that person was my father.
When he passed away from cancer, it felt like the rock that was never supposed to move had suddenly crumbled. Over time, God helped me understand that my father was a beautiful source of support, but he was never meant to carry the weight that only Christ can carry.
People are precious, but they cannot be permanent. God alone is our unwavering rock, our safe place, and the foundation that will never give way.
Scripture (ESV):
Psalm 18:2: “The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”
Reflection Questions:
Who has brought stability and encouragement into my life?
Have I placed expectations on someone that only God can fulfill?
What would it look like to take refuge in God today?
