Welcome to the Clinical Social Work Journal Podcast! This podcast interviews the author or authors about their work being published in the Clinical Social Work Journal and explores further its connection to clinical social work and other aspects of the profession. Thank you for joining us, and we are excited about this opportunity to share the exciting work being done in social work. Please tune into a new episode with Dr. Joy Kim about her work about how social work regulations impact all social workers, including clinical social work. We talk about what clinical social workers should know about regulations and how they can impact our work as practitioners.Social work regulatory rules and practices should balance the social values of promoting consumer safety and workforce equity. As the two values often compete, the balancing act should be guided by empirical evidence about the effects of regulations on consumers and the workforce. Unfortunately, however, empirical studies investigating the relationships between various regulatory rules and practices and consumer safety and workforce equity are rare in the existing literature. This paper identifies critical gaps in the current knowledge base and proposes a series of future research agendas that call for empirical evidence, including detailed data on jurisdictional regulatory rules and practices, the measures of consumer safety, and licensed social workers’ demographic, employment, and practice characteristics. The paper concludes by calling out to all social work stakeholders about the need for empirical evidence on the effects of social work regulatory rules and practices.Connect with The Clinical Social Work Journal: Website: https://www.springer.com/journal/10615Twitter: https://twitter.com/homeInstagram: https://www.instagram.comFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/ClinicalSocialWorkJournalLinks to our previous podcast episodes: Episode 1: https://stream.redcircle.com/episodes/f91f3ed3-d6e3-4748-8ae2-6236cd7a076d/stream.mp3Episode 2: https://stream.redcircle.com/episodes/bb08dad8-47ee-4195-8031-bcdb862a0835/stream.mp3Episode 3: https://stream.redcircle.com/episodes/d1c4e6b4-e85b-4ef0-af25-ee0f6032e05c/stream.mp3Episode 4: https://stream.redcircle.com/episodes/309e7b91-2575-4d3d-a892-0c8599379a01/stream.mp3Episode 5: https://stream.redcircle.com/episodes/c27a16b0-7022-4cbe-8f1c-753dd2718e71/stream.mp3Episode 6: https://stream.redcircle.com/episodes/d297edee-643f-49a7-a54b-de2231fe7e2d/stream.mp3Episode 7: https://stream.redcircle.com/episodes/5b7de9e2-a452-4e01-b2e6-6ea0c167af00/stream.mp3Episode 8: https://stream.redcircle.com/episodes/82775d1c-5dd7-4bff-95e7-475ec387675d/stream.mp3Episode 9: https://stream.redcircle.com/episodes/4630361f-9dc9-4ec6-9390-987bd07b52de/stream.mp3Episode 10: https://stream.redcircle.com/episodes/9e97a63d-7ed5-4bfe-b020-81a598a09a6d/stream.mp3Episode 11: https://stream.redcircle.com/episodes/d9896666-3ec7-47ce-9fd6-c38f0740dd6b/stream.mp3Episode 12: https://stream.redcircle.com/episodes/43cdb659-ef28-4c22-ae0d-75a669b3c57b/stream.mp3

Welcome to the Clinical Social Work Journal Podcast! This podcast interviews the author or authors about their work being published in the Clinical Social Work Journal and explores further its connection to clinical social work and other aspects of the profession. Thank you for joining us and we are excited about this opportunity to share the exciting work being done in social work.

In this podcast, clinical social worker Jeff McCrossin explores how not only the individual patient, but an entire family, is affected by acquired brain injury. Impairment sustained from such injuries can last anywhere from a few days to an entire lifetime, depending on the injury severity. There are more than 2.8 million people with such injuries. In “Clinical Social Work with Families Affected by Brain Injuries: A Case Example” he shows how existing family-based knowledge and skills can be applied to serving this common, but understudied, form of injury.
