- At 6:20 a.m. on July 11, 2019, fifteen-year-old paper carrier Angela Gallagher found the chair in the middle of the gravel lot.
- Deputy Roy Hennessey logged the chair at 7:52 a.m. and noted no footprints and no dew on the wood despite heavy overnight humidity.
- Archive director Phil Okafor confirmed the storage room lock was intact and the door had not been forced the morning the chair appeared.
- Records show the municipal archive held one oak high-backed armchair in storage from 1963 until it was recorded as outside in 2019-a span of 56 years.
- The fire marshal’s 1898 log contains an unsigned, bracketed note: "except chair, oak, high-back, recovered south lawn, origin unaccounted."
