概要

 Luna heads south of Presidio, Texas, one November night in 2019, after a rancher named Delphino Reyes reports finding a grove of mesquite trees hung with human bones. She drives a two-lane road through the desert past midnight, meets the old man at his fence line, and walks with him into a place that feels older than the land itself — a hidden orchard where the bones don't decompose and the iron in the soil rings like a bell underfoot. This is not a murder scene. No one died here. The bones are arranged, not broken. And the longer Luna stands among them, the more she feels she is being arranged in turn. A story about what waits beneath the caliche — about silence, and the arrangement of things, and the question of who (or what) has been tending this grove long before anyone called this country Texas.
