Woof! Meow! There is so much good happening at Fur Kids. This Fish Community Lighthouse shares the story behind Fur Kids plus ways to volunteer, donate and find your new family member.

Furkids, headquartered in Georgia, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization that operates the largest cage-free, no-kill shelter in the Southeast for rescued cats and Sadie’s Place, a no-kill shelter for dogs. Furkids also operates one of the only facilities in the Southeast dedicated to the care of FIV-positive cats. The Furkid's mission is to rescue homeless animals, provide them with the best medical care and nurturing environment while working to find them a forever home. Furkids heals the whole animal, physically and emotionally, restoring its health and its spirit. Furkids have rescued and altered more than 55,000 animals since its founding in 2002. Approximately 1,000 animals are in the Furkids program today, in the Furkids shelters, 10 PetSmart and Petco adoption centers, and more than 400 foster homes in the Atlanta area.

Furkids is the only animal rescue organization in metro Atlanta that allows children of all ages to volunteer.  Furkids volunteer programs are designed to restore the health and spirits of injured and homeless animals while providing healing opportunities for volunteers who are strengthened by the bond of love and care between humans and animals.

It's Beth Bacall your sweet tooth will love this Fish Community Lighthouse show featuring my friends Tempa and Michael Kohler of Special Kneads and Treats.

Special Kneads and Treats operates based on Christian family-oriented ideals driven from over 30 years of cake decorating and baking experience. They believe that EVERY child should have a birthday cake on their special day. Special Kneads and Treats, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a core mission to ensure that any child in our community that has a birthday whose family cannot afford a birthday cake receives one FREE.

They work primarily with local food cooperative ministries, Foster Care, and DFCS to get these cakes into the hands of those in need. One of our major programs is connecting individuals with disabilities to a rewarding profession while providing valuable work experience and training. A focus on special needs adults receiving self-confidence, a sense of value, and the opportunity to enjoy success and socialization is our core. Sharing the love of Jesus Christ through caring, serving, equipping, and educating, we cater to the aforementioned groups.
