In this episode of the Healing Beyond Health Anxiety podcast, I’m joined by Katie Biggs, a psychotherapist who specialises in outdoor therapy.
Katie shares her journey from working as a flight attendant to training as a psychotherapist, and what led her to take therapy out of the traditional room and into nature. We talk about why working outdoors can feel so much less intense than sitting face-to-face in a therapy setting, and how walking side-by-side in nature can naturally reduce pressure, build trust, and support nervous system regulation.
We explore the mental health benefits of movement, fresh air, and being away from distractions, and how nature can create a sense of safety and ease that’s especially helpful for anxiety. Katie also shares practical ways to bring more nature into your daily routine, even if getting outdoors feels difficult or isn’t always possible.
This episode is a refreshing conversation about an alternative approach to therapy, and a gentle reminder of how powerful reconnecting with nature can be for both our mental and physical wellbeing.
