概要

 In the summer of 2019, Luna spent a week in Grafton, Illinois, a town of three hundred people on the Mississippi floodplain. She went to research an article on vanishing rural communities, but what she found was a church whose bell rang every night at exactly 3:47 AM—a bell that had been locked inside a belfry sealed since 1972. The sexton told her a story about a boy named Caleb who climbed the bell tower during a storm, and the sound that came after the lightning struck. Luna stayed up to hear it for herself, and she recorded what she heard on her phone. The audio file still sits on her desktop. She has never played it back, but she knows what's on it. This is that story.
