Welcome to The Bechdel Test — named after the rule that says a film only passes if two women talk to each other about something other than a man. And yes, it’s also a bit of a pun on my name - Beccy, Bechdel... you get it. Each episode is guaranteed to pass the test, which feels like it should be the bare minimum, but somehow still feels refreshing.

In this first episode, I’m joined by Dr. Sarah Gaier. A doctor, explorer, and creator behind @Studyholmes. We talk about her trip to Antarctica, studying extreme medicine, what the point of it actually is, and how she balances being a doctor with having a big online presence on Instagram and TikTok. I’m really lucky to have Sarah as a friend and so grateful she gave up her time to come on and chat.
