  • The Magnum Opus, Stage Four: Rubedo - The Embodiment Of The Light
    2025/11/24

Welcome to the fourth and final episode of our four-episode arc exploring the Magnum Opus, the famed Great Work of the ancient alchemists.

Throughout this series, we have travelled through the four classic alchemical stages: Nigredo (Blackening), Albedo (Whitening), Citrinitas (Yellowing), and finally Rubedo (Reddening); tracing their reflections in personal transformation, psychology, myth, and the lived reality of inner change.

In this culminating stage of the Magnum Opus, we move from illumination to integration: from recognising the light to living it.

Rubedo is the reddening, the fire of coherence, where the union of opposites becomes stable, embodied, and quietly sovereign.

In this shorter, ten-minute closing episode, I explore what it means for consciousness to anchor into form; how the Work matures from insight into behaviour; and how Rubedo signifies the end of inner division and the return to a self that is whole, honest, and real.

Music: From Stardust by Christoffer Moe Ditlevsen

  • The Magnum Opus, Stage Three: Citrinatas - The Golden Dawn
    2025/11/10

Welcome to the third episode of a four-episode arc exploring the Magnum Opus, the famed Great Work of the ancient alchemists.

During this series, we are journeying through the four classic alchemical stages: Nigredo (Blackening), Albedo (Whitening), Citrinitas (Yellowing), and Rubedo (Reddening); tracing their echoes in personal transformation, psychology, and collective myth.

In this third stage of the Magnum Opus, we move from Albedo’s awareness of the light to Citrinatas, where we learn to become the light, where we experience the beginning of integration and the union of opposites.

Citrinitas is the dawning of solar consciousness, where illumination matures into embodiment and the gold begins to reveal its glow within the self.

In this episode, I explore what it means to carry light without owning it; the reconciliation of spirit and matter, body and soul that personifies Citrinatas; and how to recognise wholeness within both our darkness and our light.

  • The Magnum Opus, Stage Two: Albedo - Purification & The Awakening Of Clarity
    2025/10/31

Welcome to the second episode of a four-episode arc exploring the Magnum Opus, the famed Great Work of the ancient alchemists.

During this series, we are journeying through the four classic alchemical stages: Nigredo (Blackening), Albedo (Whitening), Citrinitas (Yellowing), and Rubedo(Reddening); tracing their echoes in personal transformation, psychology, and collective myth.

In this episode of the Magnum Opus series, we move out of the darkness of Nigredo into Albedo, the first light of dawn, the first silvery shimmer of a new consciousness.

This is Stage Two of the alchemical journey, where we are no longer what we were, yet not fully what we will become.

In this episode, I explore how clarity can be both a revelation and a reckoning, and how Albedo's light is not salvation, but a pathway to integration.

This is the stage where what remains after dissolution is gently washed clean: where honesty replaces illusion, and the self begins to see without the distortion of the ego. Albedo is the quiet renewal that comes when we stop striving to rebuild and instead learn to listen to what is being born in the silence.

  • The Magnum Opus, Stage One: Nigredo - The Dark Night Of The Soul
    2025/10/23

Welcome to the first episode of a new four-episode arc exploring the Magnum Opus, the famed Great Work of the ancient alchemists.

Over the next four weeks, we’ll journey through the four classic alchemical stages: Nigredo (Blackening), Albedo (Whitening), Citrinitas (Yellowing), and Rubedo (Reddening); tracing their echoes in personal transformation, psychology, and collective myth.

In this opening episode of the Magnum Opus series, we descend into Nigredo – the dark night of the soul.

This is Stage One of the alchemical journey: a place of dissolution and shadow, of surrender and death.

Through the story of my own journey through Nigredo, I explore how resistance can be a threshold rather than a wall, and how the darkness itself becomes a teacher. This is the stage where everything familiar dissolves: identity, momentum, illusions, the stories we’ve built around who we think we are, our ego.

Nigredo is the beginning of the Magnum Opus: the necessary descent that gifts us with the first embers of alchemical transformation.

  • What Is Alchemy, Really? From Ancient Egypt to Carl Jung and Beyond
    2025/10/03

Alchemy is often remembered as a pseudoscience, as medieval mystics and chancers trying to turn lead into gold. But its true legacy runs much deeper, and is one of humanity’s oldest metaphors for change: turning the raw material of life into meaning, wisdom, and enlightenment.

In this first episode of The Alchemy of It All, host Fiona Meiklejohn explores alchemy’s origins in Egypt, China, and the Islamic Golden Age; the symbolism of the Magnum Opus and the philosopher’s stone; and its later interpretation by Carl Jung as a map of psychological transformation.

This episode is the beginning of a larger exploration: how transformation, in all its forms and expressions, has shaped who we are and who we might become.
