February 2005 was a momentous moment in the chart, when the 1000th number one single was achieved by a very dead Elvis Presley.

As promised, we are celebrating this landmark with a 10 part series, in which I count down my absolute favourite number ones from the start of the UK top 40 in 1952 to the start of 2005.
