  • Papa Stronsay – Part IV
    2026/07/25
On July 25, 2026, Bishop Pierre Roy, of Mission Notre-Dame de Joie and formerly a priest of the Society of Saint Pius X (SSPX), will travel to Papa Stronsay island off the coast of Scotland to consecrate as bishop the Very Reverend Father Michael Mary, F.SS.R., founder of the Sons of the Most Holy Redeemer (aka "Transalpine Redemptorists" or "Sons"). This action is unlawful, and aligns with their recent declaration, The Dogma To Steer By, in which the order asserts that the Seat of Peter is vacant. In these two episodes, we are again joined by Fr Anthony Mary, Rector of Golgatha Monastery on Papa Stronsay. He gave a personal witness to his lifelong Catholic faith and explained why the Order's declaration and the consecration of Fr Michael as bishop are necessary. A lively discussion ensued.

  • Blue Miles by Father Thomas Esposito, O. Cist
    2026/08/01
This intriguing fictional memoir of Padre Samuel, a Cistercian monk, weaves together his tumultuous life story with reflections on his life in a monastic community. The monastic vocation attracts quirky, grumpy, hilarious, and sensitive men drawn to the alluring mystery of God. As Padre Samuel's life shows, monks strive to become saints through the rigors of community life and by conquering the “old man” inclined to selfishness. This novel unveils portraits of Presentation Abbey's various characters, both comedic and tragic, as viewed through the eyes of the elderly Padre Samuel. It brings readers into the silence of the cloister and introduces them to a monk who has allowed his suffering to draw him closer to Christ. Blue Miles is a prayerful testimony to the fierce demands and consoling mercies of the monastic life. Thanks to Ignatius Press and publicist Susan Nutt for the review copy and the interview.

  • 150 NA Martyrs You Should Know with Brian O’Neel
    2026/08/08
In his book 150 North American Martyrs You Should Know, Brian O’Neel tells the stories of mostly "red martyrs" (those who shed their blood through traumatic deaths) associated with North America. Some were from other countries and died attempting to spread the faith on the continent; some were born in North America but died doing missionary work in other lands; some were individual heroes or part of an heroic group; while others were “white martyrs” who, although they did not shed their blood for the faith, suffered greatly to spread it. The book includes a lively presentation about each martyr (or group of martyrs), a practical application for the reader, and an historical context for how these martyrs helped the Church grow in North America and change the world through their courage, commitment and perseverance. Their stories have the power to inspire us today to live our Catholic faith bravely and boldly.

  • The Church in Ireland with Robert Nugent
    2026/08/15
When Pope John Paul II visited Ireland very early in his pontificate, more than ¼ of the population of the entire island and more than 1/3 of the population of the Republic attended the opening mass at Dublin’s Phoenix Park. More than half the entire population, or roughly 2.7 million people, turned out to greet the pope during his visit. One could justifiably conclude that the Irish were as Catholic” as ever. Truth, however, told a different story. As the Second Vatican Council seemed to cause a revolution-- and a sharp decline--in the Church, cultural revolutions were also underway in many Western democracies--including Ireland and the U.S.--whose effects are felt to the present day. But the story doesn’t end there. To quote from C.S. Lewis, of all people, from his book Mere Christianity, “Just as critics of the church are patting down the earth on its grave, they suddenly hear that it is still alive and has even broken out in some new place.” Join Tom Caffrey and his guest, Irish Catholic podcaster Robert Nugent, as they explore the Church in Ireland.

  • Islam and Christianity with David Pinault
    2026/06/20
Ever since the Islamic Revolution of November 1979, during which 66 Americans were taken hostage at the American embassy in Tehran, America has had a fraught relationship with Islam--including the current (undeclared) war between the United States and Iran. But can Islamic faith rituals paradoxically ignite or rekindle the flame of faith in those living in a country founded upon Judeo-Christian traditions? Listen as David Pinault, author and professor emeritus of Arabic and Islamic Studies at Santa Clara University and a faithful Catholic himself, shares insights into this paradox from his many years working with college-age students, most of whom arrived at his class without any faith, let alone faith in the Catholic Church. The following books, all published by Ignatius Press, were mentioned during the discussion: Earth Dragon Run, by David Pinault, The Crucifix on Mecca's Front Porch by David Pinault and Charles De Foucauld, by Jean-Jacques Antier with the Introduction by David Pinault.
