The moral law preached to us by Christ is that we must treat others how we wish to be treated. We are to treat other people as if they are ourselves. However, the sad truth of the matter is that many people are mind controlled by Satan, or inhabited, tormented or influenced by demons, which are often the perpetrators behind cruelty. This means at times when we are dealing with a person that is troubling us, it is not only the person who we need to manage, but also their spiritual puppeteer.

I can completely relate to those diseased, possessed, and bleeding in the Gospel of Mark. I may not have had literal leprosy, but I carried the spiritual equivalent — trauma, guilt, shame, and self‑loathing from childhood sexual wounds. I wasn’t physically paralyzed on a mat, but I lived with depression, burnout, and chronic fatigue that made every day feel like dragging a lifeless body through thick mud. I wasn’t possessed by a legion of demons, but I knew what it felt like to be fragmented inside, pulled in many directions by fear, addiction, confusion, and despair.

The short book of Joel is often treated as a prelude to the Book of Revelation — a smaller prophetic storm hinting at a larger one. As explored in the previous essay, Revelation is not a geopolitical forecast but a portrait of the spiritual commotion within a person. Joel belongs to the same tradition of inner apocalypse, but it approaches the human soul from a different angle. Joel is the apocalypse of the wounded inner self. Joel reveals the personal psychology of the spiritual battle — the locusts that slowly eat away at joy, the famine of the inner life, the return to honesty, and the valley where God confronts the internal enemies that have ruled a person’s story. Joel not only prepares you to understand Revelation, Joel exists to help you understand yourself.

The children of the exile reconstructed hierarchy, purity codes, systems of exclusion, and a righteousness built from the outside in. They rebuilt the very world God had judged. Jesus steps into this world not as a reformer but as a divine interruption. He touches lepers, eats with sinners, heals on the Sabbath, and speaks with women and Gentiles — to reveal that the structures Israel rebuilt do not reflect the heart of God, that they reflect the memory of the prostitute days, dressed in religious respectability. Jesus names this generational cycle with piercing clarity: “You build the tombs of the prophets… yet you are the children of those who murdered them” (Matthew 23:29–31). His ministry dismantles the rebuilt hierarchies, purity systems, identity markers, and authority structures. He does not adjust the old world; He ends it.

Holy Spirit gives wisdom beyond appearances, reveals danger where the eyes see none, reveals innocence where others see threat, protects the vulnerable, convicts the manipulative, comforts the wounded, and guides us into truth. Our calling is not to judge by what we see, nor to believe every story we hear, but to walk in step with the One who sees all.

The great transition across Scripture is God gradually moves His guidance from exterior to interior. The law written on stone becomes the law written on the heart. The external temple becomes the body as a temple of the Holy Spirit. The external signs of covenant identity — circumcision, sacrifices, ritual purity — give way to the circumcision of the heart, the sacrifice of praise, and the purity of conscience. The old covenant dealt with nations; the new covenant deals with hearts. The old covenant punished externally; the new covenant convicts internally. The old covenant relied on visible discipline; the new covenant relies on invisible transformation.
