  • Dermatology with Dr Leona Yip
    2025/03/30

Today on the poddy we chat with Dr Leona Yip. She is a medical dermatologist who is a huge advocate for sun sense/safety and loving the skin you are in.

We chat about all things medicine, life, being a working Mum, owning and running her practice called Skin Partners, and just taking time for herself.

Leona and I have been pen pals (sounds a little weird) for a long time. Recording this podcast was the first time we had met in person, and we had so much to talk about.

I truly appreciated the candid conversation we had. We discussed the highs and lows of medicine, how complex dermatology is, and the changing landscape of medicine.

I hope you enjoy this conversation as much as I did recording it.

  • When life gives you lemons
    2025/03/23

Today on the podcast we chat with Kayla-Jane Mooney.

7 years ago Kayla’s life irrevocably changed when she found out she was pregnant and within a matter of weeks, found out her husband, Sean, had terminal cancer.

Kayla and I talk about her journey. The joy Maxwells birth brought to her and Sean. How she coped with a newborn, Sean’s treatment and, finally how she is moving forward with her life after Sean’s passing.

Kayla wants her story to be one of hope. Through an online group she met Ash. Due to similar circumstances, a friendship developed and they made the decision to help others who have gone through what they have by starting their own podcast called “Just life and lemons”.

Kayla’s positivity and spirit for living impressed me so much. It made me wonder if I could be so resilient!

Have a listen to a Kayla and Ash’s podcast. It is fabulous!

Enjoy this wonderful chat with Kayla.

  • Gambling Harm in Australia - Part B
    2025/03/09

Today we continue our discussion around gambling harm here is Australia.

Both Zen and Kate chat about their knowledge and personal experience around gambling harm and the impact it is having on Australians.

Gambling harm is continually brushed under the carpet as an addiction. It’s easy money for the government and I can only assume that’s why it isn’t addressed more urgently, however, the impact it is having on families and communities cannot be diminished.

If you are worried about gambling harm, you can reach out to the following organisations:

  • Gambling Harm in Australia - Part A
    2025/03/02

Today on the podcast we chat with two remarkable women who are helping to assist the community around gambling harm.

Zen, is a social worker and counsellor for Turning Point . Her role is to assist clients who call or reach out for assistance with their gambling concerns.

The statistics are clear; as a nation of 27 million Australians , there was a loss of 32 billion to gambling last year.

Young men are the fastest growing demographic of gamblers.

Kate bravely speaks around her own lived experience with gambling and the impact it has had on her life. She discusses how she no longer has shame around her gambling misuse disorder and discusses very frankly how we are being manipulated by companies to use pokies and online apps.

The scary part is how young this is starting. By allowing our children to use gaming apps that win tokens, these apps (built by gambling online companies) are building neural pathways to segue seamlessly from fun kids apps to gambling online apps.

    Part B drops next week.
