Welcome to The Parents' Way Podcast.
Angela and I are talking this week about mental health, and in particular about the mental health of teenage girls.
A recent report by the CDC highlights the ways in which social media in particular may be behind a sharp increase in depressing and suicide among teenage girls.
In this episode Angela lifts up an often forgotten piece of this conversation.
When girls engage in social media, they are expressing a deep need for connection.
As parents we have the opportunity to step in and fulfill that need for connection at home so that our teenagers don't have to seek that outside, where they are vulnerable.
Neither Angela nor I are clinically trained mental health professionals and if you need immediate advice on the mental health of your children, please seek professional advice.
