 Tanner was born in Calgary Alberta and played all of his minor hockey there before taking his game to wilcox saskatchewan at athol murray college of Notre dame at just 14 years old. Tanner spent his high school years there and graduated from Notre Dame in 2018 and started his junior career with the hounds, which eventually led down a spiral of playing for 4 more teams in the span of 3 seasons. Tanners mental health and issues with alcohol began to spiral during this time and eventually hit a rock bottom before seeking help. Now he shares his story in hopes of helping others to not take the path he did and will be doing a fundraiser called Mortys Marathon For Mental Health where he will be roller blading across Alberta (roughly 700KM) raising funds for the CMHA Calgary region as well as awareness for mental health and substance abuse.
