Your brain isn't broken, your workout just isn't built for you!

In this episode of Talk Your Abs Off, I sit down with fellow personal trainer Rhiannon Cooper to talk about fitness through the lens of ADHD and autism. This conversation is especially close to my heart because working with neurodivergent clients is an area I care deeply about and one that is still wildly underrepresented in the fitness space.

Rhiannon is a late diagnosed autistic ADHD personal trainer based in the UK and the founder of Not So Typical Fitness. She specializes in neuroinclusive training and works with clients who have felt overwhelmed, excluded, or misunderstood in typical gym environments. She brings both professional knowledge and lived experience into this conversation, which makes it especially powerful.

We break down what it means to be autistic and ADHD, how those traits can show up in exercise routines, and why consistency, motivation, and discipline can feel so hard for neurodivergent brains. We talk about routine versus novelty, sensory overwhelm in gyms, and how internal sensations can feel unsafe for some people. We discuss how neurodivergent friendly fitness focuses on autonomy, flexibility, and helping people feel safe and confident in their bodies.

This episode is for anyone with ADHD or autism who has struggled to stick with fitness, felt like they were bad at exercise, or wondered why standard workout advice never seemed to work. If you want a more compassionate, sustainable approach to movement that works with your brain instead of against it, this conversation is for you.

  • 5 Things I Learned in My First 2 Years of Sobriety | Episode 33

In this episode of Talk Your Abs Off, I’m reflecting on something that continually changes my life: being two years sober. Sobriety didn’t magically fix everything. I still experience FOMO, I still get triggered sometimes, and I still live in a world where alcohol is everywhere. But what has changed is how I see myself, my boundaries, and what it really means to belong. I’m sharing five honest lessons from my first two years without alcohol, including what surprised me most, what was harder than I expected, and what ended up being incredibly freeing.

I talk about how I’ve stopped caring what other people think about my drinking choices and how much peace that has brought into my life. I open up about the deep desire to feel included, where that started for me back in college, and how it shaped my relationship with alcohol for years. I also share how finding non-alcoholic drinks and new ways to socialize helped me build a version of my life that still feels fun, connected, and full — just without the hangovers.

I also dive into how much our culture revolves around alcohol and how that doesn’t have to dictate your choices or your comfort. And finally, I explore why more people are choosing sobriety or drinking less, and how that shift is creating space for new conversations, new norms, and more freedom around how we show up socially.

Whether you’re sober, sober-curious, or simply rethinking the role alcohol plays in your life, this episode is a reminder that you’re not broken for wanting something different — and you don’t have to fit into anyone else’s version of what “normal” looks like.
