 This is the lived experience of a man who was finally diagnosed as autistic at the age of 65. Looking back over his life through the lens of autism made sense of so many disparate experiences. Bullying, loneliness, frustration, the feeling of being frequently overwhelmed, and the sense of being different and apart from everyone else, all became comprehensible. Also suffering from CPTSD (complex post-traumatic stress disorder), he developed many unhelpful behaviours that made relationships difficult.     Here is the story of my first admission to a psychiatric ward in a hospital. This was when I was still undiagnosed as autistic. In fact, at that time, I was MISdiagnosed as Bipolar which is a common occurrence. I recommend it highly.

    This one is about friendship. We all lose friends. As an autistic person, making friends is difficult. Losing them is easy. It's easy to be irritable. It's easy to be 'difficult'. This is all true, but cut me slack, and I think good friends should cut each other slack.
