  • Episode 6: In all times, there will be something defined as art
    2023/07/26
Is art a forecast? In this extra long, final episode, we delve into possible futures of art and art spaces. What role does art still have to play and in turn, how does it adapt to possible near-realities? These days many artists connect their practice to sustainability and the anthropocene. Maybe art can offer a cure for the world, or rather the wake-up call. How do we navigate this future discourse? This episode features visual artist Asad Raza and researcher and writer Katazyna Jankovska, who express their concerns for art and future discourse. We also hear Taconis Stolk, director of the ArtScience faculty of the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague, on where he sees art education in the future. Guests in this episode: Asad Raza, Katazyna Jankovska, Taconis Stolk and Hendrik Hohlfeld. For more information, check the link in our bio.

  • Episode 5: The art market works like its own ecosystem
    2023/07/12
In previous episodes, we have discussed the currency of art in various forms, from the NFT’s influence on the art market to a more mental form of currency of success. This time, the starting point is a much more common form of currency connected to the art market: money. Whenever money comes into the talk, an artist’s practice starts to look like a business. Yet it is not uncommon to hear the statements that “money kills creativity”, and that “art has to be autonomous”. But to what extent is this really true? In this episode, Yael and Rosa talk with Nadine van den Bosch from the Young Collectors Circle, intrigued by their mission to save the art world, one artwork at a time. Guests in this episode: Nadine van den Bosch, Thijs Jaeger and Lotus Rooijakkers. For more information, check the link in our bio.

  • Episode 4: Is there a party for being rejected somewhere?
    2023/06/28
Today we are talking about the notion of success in an artist's practice. And perhaps more importantly, the rejection. Is art only validated with success? How do artists deal with and play with pressure and competition? Seeing as we are young professionals in the art world ourselves, we take a more personal approach to this topic. We explore the experience that most artists, curators and art venues share, but never really mention publicly. Also, art academies are constantly evolving as they try to keep up with more universal academic standards, expectations of the market, and not in the least, the political climate. Guests in this episode: Stella Loning, Giulietta Pastorino Verastegui, Gideon Eillert, Judith Reijnders and Cecilie Fang. For more information, check the link in our bio.
