Surviving Narcissistic Abuse with Jill Wise is a podcast dedicated to helping survivors understand, heal from, and ultimately overcome the devastating psychological effects of narcissistic abuse. In each episode, Jill explores the complex dynamics of narcissistic relationships, including manipulation tactics, trauma bonds, gaslighting, and the long term impact of emotional abuse.

Jill Wise is a trauma informed narcissistic abuse recovery coach and a lifelong survivor of narcissistic abuse herself. She was raised by a malignant narcissistic father, and later married a malignant narcissist and had a child with him. Her life was profoundly impacted by years of psychological abuse, including the parental kidnapping and severe parental alienation involving her son, which led to more than a decade of painful family court battles.

Through thoughtful discussion, psychological insight, and compassionate guidance, Jill helps listeners make sense of what they experienced, break free from trauma bonds, and begin rebuilding their confidence, identity, and peace of mind.

If you have ever questioned your reality, struggled to understand narcissistic behavior, or wondered how to truly heal after abuse, this podcast will offer clarity, validation, and hope.

  • The Female Narcissist's Obsession with Destroying Other Women
    2026/07/15

    Send us Fan Mail

Why are some female narcissists so relentlessly obsessed with destroying other women? It goes far beyond jealousy. In many cases, it is driven by pathological envy, a desperate need for superiority, and a fragile identity that depends on tearing others down.

In this episode, I explore the psychological dynamics behind why certain female narcissists become fixated on discrediting, humiliating, sabotaging, and competing with women they perceive as a threat. We'll discuss the role of pathological envy, projection, smear campaigns, triangulation, reputation destruction, and why simply existing confidently can trigger their deepest insecurities.

If you've ever found yourself targeted by a woman who seemed determined to destroy your relationships, your reputation, your career, or your peace of mind, this episode will help you understand that her behavior was never truly about you. It was about protecting the illusion she desperately needs to maintain about herself.

Understanding these dynamics can help you stop personalizing the abuse, recognize the warning signs sooner, and begin healing from the psychological damage left behind.

  • Emotional Incest: How Narcissistic Mothers Destroy Their Sons' Adult Relationships
    2026/07/01

    Send us Fan Mail

Emotional incest is one of the most damaging—and least understood—forms of narcissistic abuse.

In this episode of Surviving Narcissistic Abuse, Jill Wise takes a deep dive into the hidden dynamic between narcissistic mothers and their sons, and how this unhealthy emotional enmeshment can profoundly affect the son's identity, emotional development, and future relationships.

Unlike healthy parent-child relationships that encourage independence and emotional growth, emotional incest places a child in the role of emotional caretaker, confidant, or surrogate spouse. Over time, the child learns that his purpose is not to become his own person, but to meet his mother's emotional needs. As an adult, this often creates deep feelings of guilt, obligation, and loyalty that make healthy romantic relationships extremely difficult.

    In this episode, you'll learn:

    • What emotional incest really is—and what it is not
    • How narcissistic mothers create pathological enmeshment with their sons
    • Why the "golden child" is especially vulnerable to this dynamic
    • Why many emotionally enmeshed sons never fully individuate into adulthood
    • How unresolved anger toward the mother is often displaced onto wives and girlfriends
    • Why the narcissistic mother almost always comes first in the relationship
    • How this dynamic damages marriages and long-term partnerships
    • Why change is unfortunately very rare unless the son recognizes the abuse and establishes firm boundaries

If you've ever felt like you were competing with your partner's mother, constantly coming second, or questioning why your relationship never seemed to come first, this episode may provide the clarity and validation you've been searching for.

  • Why Narcissists Rewrite History: The Terrifying Truth Behind Their Distorted Thinking
    2026/06/17

    Send us Fan Mail

Have you ever tried to confront a narcissist with undeniable proof, only to watch them completely rewrite what happened right in front of you? One of the most disturbing aspects of narcissistic abuse is realizing that the narcissist often seems to be living in an entirely different reality than everyone else.

In this episode, we explore the terrifying truth behind why narcissists rewrite history, distort facts, deny events, and create entirely new narratives that protect their fragile self-image. We'll discuss the psychological defenses driving this behavior, the role of shame, cognitive distortions, confabulation, gaslighting, and why their version of reality can become so convincing—not only to others, but often to themselves.

You'll learn why arguing with a narcissist rarely leads to accountability, why their stories seem to change over time, and how these distortions can leave victims questioning their own memories, perceptions, and sanity. Most importantly, we'll talk about how to protect yourself from becoming trapped inside someone else's manufactured reality.

If you've ever wondered how a narcissist can deny things they clearly said, rewrite years of history, or genuinely believe a version of events that bears little resemblance to the truth, this episode will help you understand what's really happening beneath the surface.

Healing begins when you stop trying to make sense of their reality and start trusting your own.
