  • Panhandle Beach Forecast Moderate Rip Current Risk Today Tuesday Increasing to High Wednesday Through Friday
    2026/06/08
Good morning, this is your surf zone forecast for the Panhandle beaches from the National Weather Service in Tallahassee. Let's start with what we're looking at today and tomorrow. If you're planning a beach day, you're in for some pleasant weather with partly sunny skies and highs in the mid to upper eighties depending on where you are. Water temperatures are sitting at a comfortable eighty-one degrees. Now here's the thing about rip currents though. We're expecting a moderate risk across all our beaches today and Tuesday, which means life-threatening rip currents are definitely possible in the surf zone. So if you're heading into the water, make sure you know what to look for and always swim near a lifeguard. Winds will be light, mostly coming from the east this morning and shifting to the southeast by afternoon at five to fifteen miles per hour. Surf heights are going to be pretty small, mostly running around one to two feet, so it's going to be a fairly calm couple of days out there. Now here's where things get more interesting. Starting Wednesday and continuing through Friday, we're expecting a significant change in conditions. Onshore winds and wave heights are both going to increase, and we're also tracking longer period swells arriving from the southern Gulf. All of this is going to push the rip current risk up to high, meaning life-threatening rip currents will likely be present in the surf zone. Wednesday through Friday is when you really need to exercise caution if you're venturing into the ocean. One more thing worth mentioning is that we do have an extreme UV index today, so don't forget your sunscreen no matter what you're doing at the beach. Stay safe out there, and we'll keep you updated as conditions develop. For more http://www.quietplease.ai Get the best deals https://amzn.to/3ODvOta

  • Florida Panhandle Surf Forecast Thursday May 21st High Rip Current Risk Afternoon Intensifying Conditions
    2026/05/21
    # Surf Zone Forecast for Thursday, May 21st Good morning everyone, and welcome to your Thursday surf zone forecast for the Florida Panhandle beaches. If you're thinking about heading out to the water today, listen up because conditions are shifting throughout the day and we've got some important safety information for you. Let's start with South Walton, including the popular beaches of Santa Rosa Beach and Turquoise Beach. We're looking at moderate rip current risk this morning with surf heights around two feet. The water's a pleasant eighty-two degrees, so it'll feel great when you get in. The sky will be partly sunny with highs in the lower eighties and light southeast winds at five to ten miles per hour. However, here's the important part: conditions are going to intensify this afternoon. We're expecting surf heights to increase, which will likely bump the rip current risk higher, especially for Bay County, Gulf State Park, and Franklin County beaches. This is a heads up to be extra cautious if you're planning an afternoon visit. Over at Coastal Bay around Panama City Beach and Magnolia Beach, we've already issued a high rip current risk alert that goes into effect at one PM this afternoon and continues through the evening. Even though surf heights will stay around two feet, life-threatening rip currents are likely in the surf zone during that window. The water temperature here is eighty degrees, and we're expecting partly sunny skies with highs in the mid-eighties. Southeast winds will be five to ten miles per hour this morning, increasing to ten to fifteen by tomorrow. Very High UV index today, so don't forget that sunscreen. Moving eastward to Coastal Gulf, including Saint Joe Beach and the state park beaches, we're seeing more variation depending on which way the beach faces. West-facing beaches have a moderate rip current risk with one-foot surf, while south-facing beaches and state park areas are showing high rip current risk with two-foot surf. A high rip current risk alert is in effect from two PM through this evening. The UV index out here is extreme, so definitely slather on that protection. Highs will reach the mid-eighties with mostly sunny skies. Finally, out at Coastal Franklin around Apalachicola, we've got high rip current risk throughout the day with two-foot surf heights. The water's at eighty-one degrees and it's mostly sunny out there. Another high rip current alert is in effect from two PM through this evening. Highs in the lower eighties with light southeast winds around five miles per hour. Looking ahead to the extended period, Friday brings moderate to high rip currents depending on location, with a chance of showers and thunderstorms developing. Saturday escalates to high rip current risk across the board with showers likely and thunderstorms possible. Sunday and Memorial Day both maintain high rip current risk with scattered showers and thunderstorms in the forecast. The bottom line: if you're going in the water today, be rip current aware and watch out for that afternoon surge. Keep an eye on children and weak swimmers, and remember that even though surf heights are modest, the currents can be deadly. Stay safe out there, and enjoy your time at the beach. • Panhandle Beach Surf Forecast Wednesday to Sunday High Rip Current Risk Weekend Cold Front
    2026/04/29
Good morning, I'm bringing you your Panhandle beach surf forecast for Wednesday through Sunday. A moderate rip current risk continues today across all our local beaches with seas hovering around two feet. It's going to be a beautiful day to be outside with partly sunny skies, upper seventies for highs, and gentle southwest winds around ten miles per hour. Water temperatures are comfortable in the mid to upper seventies depending on where you are. The UV index is very high, so don't forget that sunscreen. Thursday stays mostly dry with partly sunny conditions and highs again in the upper seventies, but there's a chance of showers and maybe a few thunderstorms rolling through. The rip current risk remains moderate. Winds shift to the northwest and stay light around ten miles per hour. Friday brings a slight change in pattern with mostly cloudy skies and another chance of showers and thunderstorms. Surf heights drop to around one foot, and highs reach the mid seventies with east winds. The rip current risk stays moderate, so still be cautious if you're heading out. Now here's where things get interesting. A cold front moves through this weekend, and the National Weather Service is raising the rip current risk to high on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday looks pretty wet with showers and thunderstorms likely, and it'll be noticeably breezy with winds around twenty to twenty five miles per hour depending on your location. Highs will dip into the upper sixties to low seventies. Sunday clears out nicely with mostly sunny to sunny skies, but keep that high rip current risk in mind. There's still a chance of showers, and cooler north winds around fifteen miles per hour will be blowing. Highs drop to the lower seventies. So here's the bottom line: enjoy the beautiful weather and moderate conditions through Friday, but be prepared for more active seas and stronger rip currents this weekend as the cold front passes. If you're planning to be in the water Saturday or Sunday, exercise extra caution and stay aware of those dangerous currents near structures like piers and jetties.
