Part 3 of the Spirit Filled Summer series on the Fruit of the Spirit.

We are exploring the Fruit of the Spirit this summer. Today’s message includes three possible exercises to help you grow in love.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.”

The second comes from Adele Ahlberg Calhoun’s Spiritual Disciplines Handbook when she invites us to the spiritual discipline of compassion.

Ask three people who are close to you if they will honestly answer some questions:

• How do I come across?
• What is it like to be with me?
• Do I show interest in others?
• Do I mostly talk about myself?
• What do you learn about the way you come across?

A friend recently lost a family member suddenly. His recommendation? Tell the people you care about that you love them every time you see them. You never know when it will be the last time.

It’s Pentecost Sunday.

A world changing event happened 50 Days after the Resurrection. With the sound of a mighty wind and the appearing as if tongues of fire landing on each of them, the disciples were filled with the Promise Jesus had given.

The Holy Spirit now within them, they took to the streets to share the message of Jesus. Unusual things happened that day. They shook Jerusalem and the events of that day are still shaking the world.

They were Empowered.
