Summer on the Mount — Week 2: Salt and Light: The Visible Kingdom | Matthew 5:13–16
Texts: Matthew 5:13–16
Jesus does not bless us so we can disappear. He blesses us so His Kingdom becomes visible.
In Week 2 of Summer on the Mount: A Better Way to Be Human, Pastor John continues through the Sermon on the Mount and teaches from Matthew 5:13–16, where Jesus calls His people the salt of the earth and the light of the world.
This message shows that Kingdom identity comes before Kingdom activity. Jesus does not say, “Try to become salt” or “Try to become light.” He says, “You are.” The people Jesus blesses are the people Jesus sends into the world as a visible sign of the Kingdom.
If you have ever wondered how ordinary faithfulness can make an invisible God visible in a visible world, this message is a reminder that a restored life becomes a visible witness. Salt creates thirst. Light gives direction. And good works point beyond us to the Father.
