  • One Step at a Time?
    2023/06/21

You’ve heard it a million times before.

Take one step at a time.

But if that actually works, why is it so hard when you sit down to work? Why do you feel so overwhelmed when you look at your to-do-list?

In today’s episode, I share how to solve the problem of overwhelm by being more engaged when you sit down to get things done.

This episode also reminds us that it is ok to accept ourselves and our best efforts for today. Learning is a process of growth. If you knew everything, you probably wouldn’t need school, now would you?

My hope is that you listen to this episode and feel inspired to accept yourself for where you are at today, while also taking growth-oriented actions to achieve amazing results in school and beyond.

  • 3 Signs You're Stuck in "The Busy Trap"
    2023/06/15

    Does this sound familiar?

"I'm always sooooo busy. It's like I work all the time, but I barely make deadlines and sometimes I miss assignments."

Students often fall into "the busy trap."

This happens when you poorly invest time and energy into your schedule. You spend more time "doing stuff," and less time getting things done.

Three symptoms of being busy rather than productive are:

    1) You are always distracted.

    2) You work with too little direction and have no deliverables to show for all the time and effort you invest.

    3) You ignore "self-care," whatever that means based on your needs.

Becoming more productive (and less stressed) will help you get things done while becoming LESS busy. If you want to know how I've achieved this in my own life, check out the article I wrote about the FREEDOM method.

    https://stressfreestudent.com/7-steps-to-freedom-from-stress/

These are the tools I equipped myself with to become more productive in college.

When you are done listening to this episode, consider whether or not you are too busy (and not productive enough) during your typical school week.

  • Self-Hypnosis for Enhanced Learning and Stress Management
    2023/06/07

Do you want to learn how to empower yourself and maximize your potential using the tools of self-hypnosis?

Joann Abrahamsen, Certified Hypnotist, can help! After having personally experienced positive changes in her own life with self-hypnosis, Joann wrote a book titled Self-Hypnosis, Easy as 1, 2, 3 in which she unpacks how to leverage this tool for positive change.

A recent article from TIME magazine found that, quote, “Hypnosis has a surprisingly robust scientific framework. Clinical research has shown that it can help relieve pain and anxiety and aid smoking cessation, weight loss, and sleep. It can help children and adolescents better regulate their feelings and behaviors. Some people can even use “self-hypnosis” to manage stress, cope with life’s challenges, and improve their physical and emotional health.”

In today’s interview, Derek Zboran talks with award-winning certified hypnotist Joann Abrahamsen about how she became involved with the hypnosis community and ways that students might use it to become better students.
