The Comedy Open Mic Scene is more than just a gathering of like minded comics who want to break into stand up. It is so diverse and broad, and the gatherings themselves are much akin to regions, with counties, villages, families, indivduals, because not everyone clicks together. Yet they all assemble at these events for a common purpose, Comedy.

Comedy can mean different things for different people, some are there to network, some to scout talent, some to practice their sets, others to interview people, etc. If you hang around enough, you will meet at least one person whom you can form a social aquaintance with and possibly collaborate on projects as well.

Have you ever found yourself getting jealous of other people for their success?

I know I have and I fight that inner demon. Just having an open and frank conversation about this here today.

Others are content just working alone.

I tend to lean a lot more towards the latter.

I have been an amateur radio operator for twenty years. I am sharing some of my experience and knowledge of the hobby with you here.

Is it necessary for a comic to travel out of state? City? Town? Country?

No, it is not, but it will help to open more doors. Unless that comic is just extremely popular in their city and every club wants them, chances are, they may want to invest in a road trip just to get a feel of other regions, and introduce themsevles to possible potential future fans.

There was a particular Podcaster, who recently ended his podcast. I had heard that this individual has always been a very jealous person, because he does not get the noteriety of other comics and podcaster.

He has no right to be jealous, he makes money doing this and people actually listen to him.
