This episode walks through Ephesians 6:10–13. After establishing the believer’s identity in Christ (chapters 1–3) and how that identity is lived out (chapters 4–6), Paul commands believers to be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His power, then to put on the full armor of God so they can stand against the devil’s schemes.

“Be strong” is a command. The struggle is not against flesh and blood. Evil often comes through people, yet the real enemies are rulers, authorities, cosmic powers, and spiritual forces of evil. These are personal beings organized by region and function; they were created by Christ and rebelled. They were disarmed at the cross, but they have not yet been locked up. Believers, seated with Christ, enforce that victory. A mature believer walks unoffendable, seeing people as dearly loved by God and under the enemy’s influence rather than as the enemy itself.

“Stand” appears multiple times and means to establish yourself in truth. Two illustrations make this concrete:

• The parable of the sower (Luke 8): the good soil clings to the word with steadfast endurance.
• The storm on the lake (Mark 4:35–40): Jesus said, “Let us go to the other side.” The disciples had the word but panicked when circumstances contradicted it. Jesus wanted them to stand on His word and exercise authority rather than pray in fear.

The “evil day” described in this passage is any time deception, doubt, or opposition shows up. God’s spoken word carries the power to accomplish what it says. Standing means expecting opposition, speaking and acting in line with God’s will, and walking by the Spirit rather than by sight.
