If you’ve ever felt guilty because you don’t “trust God enough,” you’re not alone and you’re not crazy. I’m John, and I share why the gap between what we believe about our identity in Christ and what we feel under pressure can be explained by something I call spiritual attachment disorder, a broken pattern of trust that shows up as anxiety, fear, shame, and relentless striving.

We walk through how believers can be biblically literate but still spiritually disconnected because we weren’t formed in God’s presence from our earliest days. That disconnection often produces a performance-based faith where we work for acceptance, treat every season like a battle to earn victory, and keep a quiet plan B when life gets uncertain. I also challenge the reflexive thought “that’s Jesus” and show why sonship matters: we are heirs of God, joint heirs with Christ, invited to live from a place of belonging rather than hustle.

To ground it, I use natural attachment and bonding to explain why consistency, safety, and presence are essential for trust, and why trauma and deprivation shape how we relate to the Father. Then we go to Scripture, including John 1, to frame God’s presence as our true environment, like a fish designed for water. We end with practical direction: renew your mind, stay in daily communion, and let the Holy Spirit guide you into the truth of who you already are.

If this hit home, subscribe for more, share it with a friend who’s tired of striving, and leave a review so more people can find the message. What part of trust feels hardest for you right now?
