Kim Witczak is a globally recognized drug safety advocate, speaker, and former Consumer Representative on the FDA’s Psychopharmacologic Drugs Advisory Committee, where she served three consecutive terms from 2016 to 2025 reviewing psychiatric drugs and safety concerns.After the sudden death of her husband in 2003 from an undisclosed antidepressant side effect, Kim turned personal tragedy into public purpose. Over the past two decades, she has become a leading voice for FDA reform, informed consent, transparency, and patient safety. She played a key role in efforts that led to the FDA adding Black Box suicide warnings to antidepressants for children and young adults in 2004 and 2006.With more than 25 years of experience in advertising and marketing communications, Kim brings a unique lens to how pharmaceutical marketing shapes medicine and public perception. She co organized the international Selling Sickness: People Before Profits conference, convening global experts to challenge the commercialization of medicine and develop solutions for reform. She also serves on multiple patient safety and advocacy boards, including USA Patient Network, Inner Compass Initiative, Conscious Clinician Collective, MISSD (Medication Induced Suicide in Memory of Stewart Dolin), Re Check Investigative Health Journalism, and the Institute for Scientific Freedom.Kim has testified before the U.S. Senate, the FDA, and several state legislatures on drug safety, FDA reform, and informed consent. Her work has been featured in major media outlets, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Fortune, BBC, CNN, and Consumer Reports, and has been highlighted in national and international documentaries.Today, she speaks about what she calls Big Pharma’s Spiderweb of Influence, the complex intersection of industry, regulation, and medicine, empowering audiences to ask better questions, reclaim their voice, and engage more actively in their healthcare.youngadults in 2004 and 2006.
