  • why checking in on people matters | Kitchen Table Conversations Ep. 17
    2026/08/27

Sometimes the most meaningful thing you can give someone isn't advice, a solution, or an answer, it's simply letting them know, “I'm here. I care. You're not alone.” ❤️

In today's Kitchen Table Conversations, we talk about what it really means to check in on the people around us, to genuinely ask how someone is doing, listen when the answer isn't “I'm fine,” notice when someone may be struggling behind a smile, and show up even when we don't know exactly what to say or how to help. From family and friends to neighbors, coworkers, and even people we haven't spoken to in a long time, sometimes a simple message, phone call, invitation, or quiet moment together can lift someone's spirit more than we realize.

We also explore men's emotional health, loneliness, grief, community, self-reliance, the importance of being authentic, and why caring for others is something we can all practice every day. As Mama Zee says, sometimes we can't solve someone's problems, but we can make sure the people around us know they're not alone. And as Philippians 2:4 reminds us, “Let each of you look not only to his own interests but also to the interests of others.”

So, if someone comes to your mind today, don't dismiss it. Check in. You never know what that simple act of care might mean to them. And be open enough to let others check in on you, too.

If not today, tomorrow. And if not tomorrow, the day after. Until you are okay.

  • the seasons of life, and why every season matters | Kitchen Table Conversations Ep. 16
    2026/08/20

Sometimes we spend so much time waiting for the next season of our lives that we forget to recognize the beauty of the one we're in.

In this episode of Souls Unshaken, Mama Zee and Jona sit down at the kitchen table and talk about the seasons of life, and somehow, that conversation takes them everywhere.

From summer, fall, winter, and spring… to childhood, adulthood, aging, family, faith, work, education, purpose, change, grief, memories, and the places that shaped us.

We talk about why summer can feel like a season of movement and possibility, why fall can bring nostalgia and beauty, why winter can feel difficult but still give us reasons to celebrate, and why spring reminds us that beautiful things don't have to last forever to be meaningful.

Because maybe that's one of the hardest lessons about life:

    Nothing stays.

    The people we love change.
    Our circumstances change.
    Our dreams change.
    Our bodies change.
    Our families change.
    Our seasons change.

And sometimes we spend so much energy wishing for a different season that we forget to recognize the beauty of the one God has placed us in right now.

The cherry blossoms don't become less beautiful because they fall.

Rain doesn't make sunshine less valuable.

And a difficult season doesn't mean your story is over.

Every season has something to teach us.

So wherever you are right now, whether you're experiencing a joyful season, a painful season, a season of uncertainty, a season of growth, or simply a season where you're trying to figure out what's next, we hope this conversation reminds you:

You don't have to rush through your life.

You don't have to stay stuck in the past.

And you don't have to be afraid of what comes next.

There is beauty in the season you're in.

And there will be beauty in the season that follows.

As Mama Zee says toward the end of the conversation:

    “May your season be beautiful.”

Welcome back to the kitchen table. ❤️
