Amanda is the founder of Shinrin Yoku Hong Kong and is a Trainer and Mentor with the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy Guides and Programs. We talk about her journey from becoming a lawyer to navigating working in a non-profit, being diagnosed with cancer, and how that and her love for nature have led her to become a forest therapy guide and trainer.

Amanda is also an ICF Certified Professional Coach for Transformation and a seasoned group work facilitator. Since 2017, Amanda has promoted Forest Bathing and Nature Therapy in Hong Kong by holding regular public sessions and serving a wide spectrum of clients, including the corporate sector, NGOs, universities and educational institutions.

As a Trainer of emerging forest therapy guides, Amanda has trained over 120 guides based in the US, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, Taiwan and Mainland China. Amanda shares her experience generously with the local and international media and has spoken at local and international conferences on the application of forest therapy in the unique environment of Hong Kong. Amelia Lim has been a social worker for over 10 years and is a certified Forest Therapy Guide and Reiki Master Teacher. She gets vulnerable, sharing her coming out story, her family’s reaction to it and her deep connection to nature. Having had trouble speaking up for many years, she talks about the process of slowly finding her voice and the freedom to be herself.

Amelia discovered Reiki while working in the healthcare sector, where more than a decade of experience as a social worker deepened her curiosity about healing beyond conventional clinical models.

Her interest in body-mind-spirit work was shaped during her Master of Social Sciences (Behavioral Health) studies in Hong Kong in 2013, where she was introduced to mindfulness-based and holistic therapeutic frameworks. These experiences continue to inform both her professional practice and personal life.

Amelia incorporates Reiki alongside reflective, nature-based, and contemplative practices, with nature forming a central pillar of her work and self-care.

Her practice is guided by a commitment to self-compassion, sustainable healing, and meeting life’s challenges with greater awareness and gentleness.
