  • December 09, 2025 – Feed Yourself First!
    2025/12/24
In this episode of Matthew Wayne Selznick Creates, I observe what would have been the 90th birthday of my mother, who was a real champion of my creativity. In thinking of her, I think about creative legacy, and why it’s important, and what I — and so, perhaps, you — can do to make sure we’re doing something every day to ensure it. The biggest thing, the most important strategy, is right there in the title. This episode was recorded on December 09, 2025. Watch the Episode (No video? Click to watch on YouTube.) • November 11, 2025 – My New Countdown App, and the Online Shop Returns
    2025/11/17
In this episode of Matthew Wayne Selznick Creates, I’m pleased to officially release the countdown app with a point of view I brought into the world and have been using myself for many months: What Matters. What Matters does one thing: displays how many days are left until a deadline you set, and presents a single question: “Are you doing what matters?” Listen to the episode to learn why I wanted such a thing to exist, and how to get your copy for Windows, Mac, and Linux machines. Don’t want to wait? Buy it now and tinker with What Matters while you listen to the episode! Also: all about my now fully-functional battlesta— I mean, online shop. It’s not quite as pretty as I’d like, and there are things I’d like it to do differently, but you can once again purchase e-books, audiobooks, chapbooks, and yes, software directly from me. Learn all about it, especially the WordPress plugins that make it possible, FluentCart and FluentCRM. This episode was recorded on November 11, 2025. Watch the Episode (No video? • October 14, 2025 – Twenty-One Years of Podcasting
    2025/10/24
Coming to you this time from the actual lush and lavish studios of MWS Media, I observe the twenty-first anniversary of my first podcast, which is also more or less also the 21st anniversary of podcasting itself. In and around that milestone, two podcasting legends have retired, and another ill-conceived podcast award is announced. I have thoughts. Also, an update on my own creative life, including my new website, a hopefully fresh approach to selling stuff on it, and anxiety around creating fiction. Sadly, I can’t find their first podcast episode archived anywhere..!You can find close to 100 episodes of my first podcasts, as well the complete run of Writers Talking and every episode of Five Minute Memoir (so far), at the cultural treasure that is The Internet Archive. You can also hear every episode of Sonitotum with Matthew Wayne Selznick right here on my site, and see all episodes of I Know This Much on YouTube (audio versions aren’t archived anywhere yet).Melvyn Bragg was the host of In Our Time for over a thousand episodes.Marc Maron recently ended his landmark interview podcast WTF.Here’s the open letter I wrote Marc Maron to gently scold his repeated claim to be a podcasting pioneer (and deliver some history, and gratitude). The Golden Globes are honoring podcasts now, sort of.I talk about my new website, which is live… and I mention using WooCommerce, with which I was struggling and which is awful. Since recording, I’ve embraced FluentCart. It’s pretty great so far, and at least until the end of October, 2025, they’ve got a price on a lifetime license that’s hard to beat. This episode was recorded (audio and video) using my Insta360 webcam and my Aurycle A87 microphone (through a Behringer U-Phoria UMC202 audio interface) via OBS Studio.Support the show with a one-time donation, with my thanks! Sit with me for a bit in the patio of the lush and lavish studios of MWS Media as I discuss my definition of free-range creativity, the concept of multiple origin stories as it pertains to your creative journey, and the latest on a tool I’m developing to help writers and authors keep all their storyworld elements organized and quantified in one place. Among other stuff, of course.

    2025/08/09
Hang out with me in a park in the gloaming (and the wind, it turns out, and the helicopters and airplanes) for the fourth episode of Matthew Wayne Selznick Creates, a podcast in which tales of one particular ongoing creative life might just have something useful for your own. In this episode, I elaborate on the burnout I mentioned in the previous episode, and go into depth on the mindset, tactics, and strategy I’m employing on a daily basis to climb out of that charred and sooty trench. • July 25, 2025 – What If I Just Talked To You?
    2025/07/29
Time for another episode of my occasional podcast, Matthew Wayne Selznick Creates! This episode, another car-cast, was recorded directly into my Pixel 9A phone, and… I’m on-camera! Don’t worry; I wasn’t driving and filming. These episodes, just like episodes of my previous podcast, Sonitotum with Matthew Wayne Selznick, have been uploaded to YouTube all along, but all audio-only. Why get on camera now? Doesn’t that run counter to my goal of turning on a mic, talking, and taking the path of least resistance toward getting it out to you? It doesn’t have to. I talk about it in the episode. I also touch on my professional and creative burn-out, and hint that I’ve begun to take steps to gradually and — this is important — intentionally pull myself out of it. The details of those steps will be in future episodes. My hope is that what I’m figuring out will help you, too. Episode Naming I’ve had second thoughts about how to name each episode. When you’ve only released three episodes in five months, there’s room to play around. As you’ve heard (or maybe saw) this episode, I’m maybe-probably making the YouTube edition of this podcast on-camera. Which means treating it in a way that’s YouTube-friendly. Which means assigning a more meaningful title than simply the date. So! The new naming convention will be the date, a dash, and something pithy to describe the episode. The file name will be mwsc_###_###.mp3, with the first three digits being the episode number and the second three digits being the in-total number representing all of the podcasts I’ve recorded and released. And the URL slug will be similar, but with dashes instead of underscores. I’m putting this down here for the real sticklers, and so I have a place to check in case I don’t remember when next episode rolls around. This episode was recorded on July 25, 2025.
