Freddie and Gareth return to their anime review and conversations and we visit the dystopian future of Cyberpunk Edgerunners. This anime take on the grim future ran by megacorps and choppy street talk is a glorious product from Studio Trigger.
This story follows the rollercoaster life of being an Edgerunner, which is a futuristic ganger in the setting of NIght City. Growing up is hard for David, living in the slums in a hand to mouth existence whilst he is pushed to try and get a good education to work at a megacorp, like Arasaka.
Night City is a mess of corporate greed, street level ultra violence with a dog eat dog mentality. Studio Trigger lean heavily into the neon cyberpunk aethestic and seem to have fun providing a world for David Martinez to run riot in or from.
