  • The Garden That Changed Everything: Sue Kent's Journey (LIVE at Shrewsbury Flower Show)
    2024/12/23

In this episode, we delve into the remarkable journey of Sue Kent, a gardener who turned personal challenges into a thriving career. Born with an upper limb disability, Sue developed innovative techniques, including using her feet for tasks traditionally done by hand. Her passion for horticulture has flourished over three decades in her stunning coastal garden in Wales.

Sue’s unique approach gained national attention during the 2020 lockdown, when a home video led to her becoming a presenter on BBC's Gardeners' World. Beyond her work on television, Sue is an accomplished author, an engaging public speaker, and a respected judge in the gardening world.

In 2022, Sue’s creativity and dedication earned her a Silver Gilt Medal and the People's Choice Award at the RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival. As an RHS Ambassador for disability inclusion, she continues to inspire others by championing adaptive gardening techniques and sharing her passion for horticulture.

Join us as we celebrate Sue’s resilience, creativity, and she tells us first hand about the incredible journey that has captured hearts across the nation.

  • A whole new challenge with John Butcher, The Bee Gardener (LIVE at Shrewsbury Flower Show)
    2024/12/19

John or as he's become known as 'The Bee Gardener' has become known for his passion for pollinators. His previous garden was featured on BBC Gardener's world, as well as several magazine publications due to it's experiential wildness, with overflowing borders that were buzzing with wildlife.

Now he's taken on a whole new challenge, with a brand new property, an old Welsh farmhouse with acres of land to play with. I'm already loving seeing the journey of the house and garden that John and his wife Sarah have been sharing on Instagram, and I can't wait to see how it unfolds, and how john can manifest his love for plants and pollinators in this new expansive space.

In this episode John talks about his inspirations such as The Laundry Garden, his full time job as a neuroscientist and how that interconnects to his love of gardening, and more about his brand new project and how he's itching to get out there and make it happen!

  • A blooming future with Jamie Langlands (LIVE at Shrewsbury Flower Show)
    2024/12/11

Jamie Langlands is an award winning garden designer that I've been lucky to work with on a few occasions. I'm always blown away by his passion and focus on sustainability, the future generations and of course creatively with fantastic designs and ideas.

I've wanted him to come onto the Sip & Sow podcast for a long time, so I was so pleased to finally get him in the chair at Shrewsbury Flower Show back in August. In this episode Jamie talks about his journey from fine artist to garden designer and how his friends initially thought he was mad. We talk about the perceptions of horticulture and how that's shifting as the world focuses more on sustainability and the impact we have on the earth, and how we can encourage even more young people to pick up the trowel and take action.

  • Seeds of Hope with Collie Flowers (LIVE at Shrewsbury Flower Show)
    2024/11/26

Collie Flowers started as an idea in Nic's mind to make gardening information more accessible and easy to understand. Before she knew it, she'd started a business selling seeds, with a passion to be known for value and quality. Her love for gardening is part inherited from Hazel, mum to Nic, who's been gardening for as long as she can remember. In this podcast, recorded live at Shrewsbury Flower Show, I dive into the story with both of them.

I love Nic & Hazel's warmth, banter and passion. One of the reasons I love Collie Flowers is that it's a family business, with core values at it's heart, and that shines through in this episode.

  • The power of herbs with The Herb Society (LIVE at Shrewsbury Flower Show)
    2024/11/06

In 1927 Hilda Leyel founded the Society of Herbalists, which would later become the Herb Society, with the aim of supporting the practice of herbal medicine in Britain. I didn't know about it until Barbara came up and chatted to me at Shrewsbury Flower Show, she was madly passionate about the power of herbs and what the society now does for people across the UK, so I invited her to sit down and join me in a comfy arm chair and tell you all on this episode of the Sip & Sow Podcast.

  • Dreaming of Dahlias with Jenny Williams (LIVE at Shrewsbury Flower Show)
    2024/10/07

She's back, for a second sitting on the Sip & Sow podcast. Jenny joined me for a full episode earlier this year, where I visited the famous Laundry Garden in all of it's glory... but I was still left wanting to know more, especially when I knew Jenny was keeping a secret up her sleeves!

All is revealed in this episode as she unveils her brand new collaboration with Avalon Home, with a range of homewares inspired by her love of Dahlias. It's something Jenny has become synonymous with over the years, but I wanted to find out more about where that passion came from and which dahlia varieties make the top of her list...

Jenny spills all, with lots of laughs as always in this episode recorded LIVE at Shrewsbury Flower Show. Does anyone else talk to their Dahlias or is that just Jenny?

    As revealed in this episode:
Discover the elegance of a classic country garden in this Avalon Home exclusive design, made in collaboration with The Laundry Garden. These Café Au Lait Dahlias have been hand painted and printed in England. Peaches and greens come together for the perfect neutral that will take you from the Autumn Harvest right through to a festive solstice table, a spring time tea or a summer soiree in the garden. • The power within with Charlotte Spillane (LIVE at Shrewsbury Flower Show)
    2024/10/01

When I was choosing who this weeks podcast guest would be, looking at all of the recordings from Shrewsbury Flower Show, Charlotte's was calling out to me. This episode feels like something we could all do with this week when it's wet and miserable, and one thing i know for sure is that Charlotte will cheer you up and make you think differently.

As a confidence expert, Charlotte helps people every day to crush self doubt, silence your inner critic and ditch that imposter syndrome. You might think she has a magic wand, but she actually has an immense skill at understanding how we behave as humans and some of those tendencies that tend to creep into our mindset... that it's within our power to change. Charlotte unlocks that by changing the way we think and turning that mindset around into something that we control. And you'll start to hear that in just this short conversation that we had at the show.
Having spent a lot of time with Charlotte over the past year, I can categorically say that yes her mindset is infectious and it really does work and in this chat we talk about some of my experiences too in my first year of business, with imposter syndrome and self doubt and how some of Charlotte's advice in practice has helped me to reach my goals in record time.
